A growing division in the Reed portfolio, Reed Hospitality was established in 2003 as a natural extension of the core development business.
Operating a range of successful venues including family orientated taverns, fine dining restaurants and gaming facilities, the division prides itself on its innovations in venue design, service and facilities.
In 2004, Reed Hospitality opened Queensland ’s first tavern to prohibit smoking indoors, a decision prompted by the company’s concern for staff and patrons’ health that has been warmly received by the public. The tavern proved a huge success and later won two Master Builders Housing and Construction Awards for Tourism and Hospitality Facilities $2 – $10million and Excellence in Workplace Health and Safety.
Reed Property Group has also formalised an exclusive partnership with the 6400 hotel strong Cendant Group to build and operate a network of at least eleven Ramada branded hotels throughout Queensland .
The first chapter in this rollout is 4 ½ star Ramada Pelican Waters – a 116 apartment hotel and residential property overlooking the Greg Norman designed Club Pelican Golf. Launched in December 2005, Ramada Pelican Waters is Ramada’s flagship hotel in , offering an extraordinary combination of luxury and amenity to both the conference and leisure markets.
Another ten hotels are planned in the next 3 – 5 years. In April this year, Reed start work on a 116 room Ramada Encore hotel to be built on a 3900sqm site alongside the Grand Hotel in Gladstone.
A 120 room Ramada Encore in Townsville, a 125 room Ramada resort at Hervey Bay , and a 200 room Ramada Plaza at Maroochydore (including conference facilities for 600 people) will also be built next year – all on existing hotel sites already managed by Reed Hospitality and owned by Reed Property Group.
Reed Hospitality also operates The Wine Bar Restaurant in Maroochydore. A fine dining restaurant, The Wine Bar has become popular for first class weddings, functions and private catering and was awarded with the Best Wine List featuring Queensland Wines in 2005.
